I have been fascinated by Crop Circles for many years and in 1998, while on a holiday, I decided to make an adhoc tapestry bookmark, [just for something to do].  I made up a dssign as i went along, to fit the piece of fabric I had at the time and noticed, a few years later, the bookmark design was almost identical to the design of the reply to Carl Sagan in 2001.  I have wondered why ever since.
